On apple's new found control freak nature

I find it sadly ironic that Steve Jobs, who began his career selling computer components designed to circumvent the effective access controls of the telephone system, is now reduced to selling blatant bullshit about the fragility of telephone networks. Certainly given his background, he should know better than to say that an unlocked cell phone can bring down a cell tower. It saddens me that he'd even try to repeat such bullshit. For shame, Steve Jobs, for shame.

Where's my auto update API? You'd think a feature so basic, so simple, would have been integrated into commercial operating systems long ago. Instead, we have this ugly mish-mash of auto update applications, each taking up memory in the background, because commercial OS developers haven't figured out that making things easy to update make people happier in the long run. Windows Update should update everything on my system, regardless of if it was produced by microsoft, or by adobe, or by google. Apple Software update should do the same; it would just make life easier.
